The New Haven Land Trust is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to land conservation, environmental education and community gardening in New Haven.  The Trust currently maintains six preserves, close to 80 acres, with a variety of habitats: tidal wetlands, coastal upland forest and grassland, traprock ridge, riparian forest and fresh water wetlands.  In addition the Trust manages the Community Vegetable Garden Program, which provides land, technical assistance and supplies to 50 community vegetable gardens.  We transform vacant lots and derelict land into ecologically productive and community oriented venues to increase food security, to further land conservation, to facilitate environmental education, and to foster community development.
