Barbara. There is no Bear hunting season in CT. So bears are not legally hunted in the state. IRead Moredon' t believe that hunters are a danger.

There still is the danger of someone acting illegally. A while ago there was an incident in which a Read MoreCT resident saw a bear at the edge of his back yard, ran to get his gun and shot the animal. That type of knee-jerk reaction had nothing to do with the legality of his actions! I am concerned with large breed dogs who could easily be mistaken for a bear and people who react impulsively. We have actually had someone ask if we were walking a bear when it was our Newfoundland on the leash.

Wow! Someone actually asked you if you were walking a bear? Is that common place around here? DoRead Morepeo ple actually walk their bears on leashes around here?

With all due respect Mr. Barton, the 4 Middlebury BOE members took away all of our rights to vote.Read MoreT hey are making the decision for all of us, and that is disgraceful and not the way our community should be run. They have the right and the obligation to partake is a discussion with the superintendent and the other BOE members to come up with a budget, they have the right to oppose the budget, and they even have the right to encourage their constituents to vote NO if they do not believe in the budget, but they do NOT have the right to take away MY right to vote, which is exactly what they did. How can their actions get the citizens to get out and vote if there is no budget to vote on?

Mr. Barton…The ignorance in your comments is deplorable. Please take the time to review the Read Morevideotape of last evening’s budget workshop on the Region 15 website. The four BOE cowards from Middlebury chose to walk out and not receive the facts you reference. The facts of the initial budget were available on the Region 15 website long before the May 7th referendum. Additionally, budget workshops were open to the public during the initial planning process to which few attended (those who did are the ones’ you accuse of doing nothing for the community). Crawling under a rock and then calling foul play is a tactic of a coward. To answer your second shameful question, I will tell you what we do for the community. We are the people who collectively pay the lion’s share of the income taxes that fund the education of children outside our community, and then collectively pay the lion’s share of the property taxes that fund our own children’s education. Then we reach yet again into our pockets to pay for the capital improvements and technology our schools need that is consistently left out of our school budget through our own fund raising efforts…refurbishing fields, purchasing Ipads and Smartboard, and playgrounds for our schools. All things CT city schools receive through State funding. We volunteer our time to organize countless fund raising efforts for our schools, local organizations and places of worship. We are the scout leaders who bring our children to stock shelves our local food banks. We are coaches who volunteer our time to find positive outlets for the children in this community. We are the role models who are working tirelessly to raising civic minded children in hopes to outnumber the ignorance of people like you. What do we do for the community? Mr. Barton…. We are the community!

Butterly has done everything in his power to play the victim. I will support any budget thatRead Morerespec ts my money. I will and have opposed any budget that wastes my money. Bill Butterly will tell people that people like me are just against him. More and more are learning what I knew a while ago. Butterly is unqualified to handle the job.
