I don't believe that Mr Rocha is a hunter. Even though Claudia stated the the bear was unarmed, MrRead MoreR ocha might have thought and presumed that the bear was armed, possibly carrying some type of hidden weapon. Nothing more frightening than seeing an armed bear. A word of caution, it's best to keep your bear on a leash and keep them unarmed.

The incident I referred to was in Burlington in May 2012 when Cory Maitz illegally shot a bear near Read Morehis yard and was arrested.

Cory Maitz was in possession of an illegal firearm which he was absolutely wrong to have done. But Read Morehe encountered a 460lb black bear face to face IN HIS GARAGE! I'm not so sure I would call shooting it a crime in this situation, especially if you have children or are in fear for your own safety. All part of the reason we have the right to bear arms in this country. If the gun was legal I'd call this a wash.

@ Bill Generous. " CT Towns have done a better job of limiting their spending increases thanRead Morego vernment at the state and federal level". Thanks Generous Bill. That statement certainly makes me feel a whole lot better. That we are doing better as a town than as a state or federal government. Problem is, when I opened up my wallet this morning the same nothing was in there. Thanks for trying to cheer me up anyway.

Jerry Plant, glad I could help brighten your day. Not sure how much Woodbury taxes deplete yourRead Morewal let. Your name does not appear on the town's tax payment system on town's website or on the link in the first comment that display real estate taxes for the prior year and under the proposal for the 2nd referendum. Perhaps, your property is under a different name, you have protected status, or Jerry Plant is a Patch name. In any event, my point on spending is that CT towns did a better job controlling spending during the recession and the aftermath than the State of CT and the Federal Government. Never said property taxes in CT are not high. In median dollar amounts per single family house household, I believe only New Jersey is higher (and by a lot).

Hello Jerry Plant Stomski, Sean, tom arras, and other members of the Woodbury Tea Party Minority,Read More On behalf of the less vocal, less angry, more fulfilled Majority of Woodbury, you need to lighten up .... Look around you ... we all have the good fortune to live in a incredible place in the world and one of the nicest corners of Connecticut....Most of us want to enjoy our lives, educate and raise our children and grandchildren to maximize their future and live full lives within our community ( which includes benefiting from our community services like the Library, Senior Center, Parks and Recreation, Emergency/Fire, and other Town services. A suggestion .... MOOOOOOVE ... If you have lost the thirst for life and for growth and simply want to exist in an un-community where saving money in taxes is more important than quality of life, there are plenty of places in America or in other parts of the world where you can move to which will fulfill that goal. Don't be mistaken ... the budget didn't get voted down these past two times because your group is part of a majority opinion in Woodbury ... it was voted down because the majority of townspeople were enjoying their lives and simply got too busy to vote. You, on the other hand, are part of a small group of people who have nothing better to do with their time than write on this forum at all times of the day / night, weekends and grouse at public meetings. I suspect that you are un or under employed, are increasingly having trouble enjoying the people around you, neglecting family responsibilities, and the only 'pleasure' you get these days is that little endorphin rush you get when you are complaining about something, hating someone, or getting angry at the world in general. It is sad really ... Sincerely, John Q. Public
