As the tree was falling to the ground, a limb from the falling tree became tangled with a limb from a different tree and was ripped from that tree, Lt. Wildman stated.

The broken tree limb struck the man on the side of the head, police reported. He had two serious visible wounds, one from the tree limb and one from the force of striking the ground, along with back and neck injuries, according to the press release. The man's brother was not injured.

The case remains under investigation by Lt. Wildman, Officer Fred Marcantonio and Officer Ron Pruchnicki.
